Hi guys,

Total newbie to vw and to the forum here. We just bought our first vw t6.1. I need to swap out captains seat for double front passenger bench and have read good stuff on here about it. The seller tells me she thinks the upholstery fabric I have is leatherette palladium vinyl which I obviously want matched. I’ll try and put picture of it here if it helps to identify it?

Do I need to source said double front bench with the reclining ability of 10% that members advocate, or is that something the fitter does?

Do I need to buy a base? (We don’t need swivel)

Is the armrest just within some specs?

Are there airbag issues?

Basically, I just don’t know how much I have to source in advance of taking it to the fitter!!

Any advice much appreciated!

I would seriously reconsider swapping out a single for a double, most go the other way. But if you do I'll give you £200 for it and collect in person

Hi there- I’m not at the point of selling the captains seat yet! I’ve managed to secure the double front bench I needed.
There’s a lot of conflicting info out there about putting in a double in an ad blue 2021 (and onwards) vehicle. Some people say you mustn’t and some people say it’s fine!
I have to press on as I have four kids and need the six seats!

Does anyone know anyone down south that provides the much loved vankraft service of putting in a hinge bracket to make the double front bench more comfortable?
