Headlight retaining clip broken

Hi I changed the main bulbs on my t6 and broke the retaining clip that locks the bulb in place . It's not the metal wire clip but the part that holds that in place .Is there a repair that can be done or is it a new complete headlight . Many thanks

@Pauly, is that something you can advise on from looking in your magic book of diagrams?

I still have my old H4 headlights at the office will have a look and take some pictures from the rear and see if the mechanism comes away from the unit

I'm planning on swapping my H4 for H7's some point soon. Happy to sell one side of the H4's once they are off. Alternatively I will be able to comment as to if you should bite the bullet and drop in H7's too. I'm more than a little bit excited. :D

That would be great . Had to wedge something against the cover so the bulb doesn't drop back for now .

Have you actually snapped/broken it or has something just come away ?

Had a look and took it apart
The metal retaining clip is held in by the same piece of metal that runs through into the headlight to diffuse the light beam, it is held in by a T10 torx self tapper screw
The question now is have you broke the metal piece or have you stripped the screw threads out of the base it screws into ?
I imagine the clip/piece of metal will be available to buy separately but if you have stripped the threads it's going to be awkward ! Possibly a slightly fatter screw or one with a courser thread may get some bit ??

I can't believe they don't sell them individually as I just lost one into the engine area somewhere!!!!

It's not that clip... it's the small little clip that that one goes into at the top of the bulb fitting....... it whizzed past me as I tried to undo the spring clip itself......

OK, then the best advice I can give is to take the one off the other lamp to use as a pattern and either try and get one from a breakers or make one.

Found it lurking in the bumper/mudguard bottom! All back together now. I did buy some ceramic wiring harness sockets but can’t fit the rear light covers/seals over the top of them but there doesn’t seem to be much more current draw with the Phillips bulbs anyway.
Going to do the battery side on the weekend as I will take the battery out for ease of access.

Good news, I’ve done similar in the past, I always put an old towel/sheet over the area I’m working in now.
