[GUIDE] Raising the floor height to match OEM rails

Finally finished my floor & got the seat back in!
Bloody hard work but pretty happy with it ,
Found my kombi threshold is fine on a slight angle .
Need longer bolts and a packer under the lashing points now .

I made decent progress on my rail and floor install thanks to this forum so returning with some info which might be useful for next person.

My T32 Kombi didn’t have any reinforcement brackets under floor on factory triple seat as floor is already strengthened. I still used brackets where I could as I already purchased and it won’t hurt to be extra safe. On outside left rail I made couple extra brackets using angled metal as none of the OEM brackets suited position.

I am getting a CNC ply floor with rails cut at T Spoke Conversion Bristol next week which I have send measurements using Kombi cut outs as reference points. Sam at T Spoke will also be precutting my 2mm Altro vinyl from his slightly oversized template which should make my job much easier

I raised my floor using OEM kombi Matt and glued/bolted battens into lashing point for nice solid way to secure floor and furniture.

There is adaptor needed to swap step light to California/Caravelle. I opted for much cheaper option and soldered replacement plug instead of using adapter loom cost £3 instead of around £40

1) M10 x 45mm Countersunk lashing point bolts:

2) 1J0971972- Plug to fit California/Caravelle side step light

3) Wickes Product code: 9000289503
Wooden battens 20.5mm x 44mm

4) 7E0863725- California raised step

Fingers crossed for you! there'll be some fettling required to finally fit, no doubt.

P.S. interesting use of battens to fix the floor to. Like others, we've not fixed our floor down as the rails keep it in place and it weighs so much it doesn't move at all

Has anyone swapped out the California sidestep light bulb for something that does actually illuminate the step?

Floor has been cut at T Spoke and very happy with results. I have started adding couple pieces of ply around step area as the California step is slightly different shape to normal raised kombi.

We have made some further progress and thought I would give update.

Glue I have used for altro to plywood.
F Ball F44 Acrylic Adhesive - 1L

Aluminium finishing trim, finish matches the California rails really well. X2 Rothley Anodised Aluminium Angle 1m x 15mm x 15mm

For next person not to make same mistake as me, be careful cutting end of the rails into vinyl as for some reason my trims did not cover up the last 5-10cm of the metal rails. I had to order some extra plastic trims and cut original ones to fabricate extra long covers. This now covers my mistake where I have cut the vinyl to much assuming the trims finish at end of black rails
