Golf Mk6 GTD Seats fitted using THQ Plates and they wobble forwards and backwards. 3 Possible fixes. Advice please from anyone who has done this

Hello,

Simple issue. I have a GTD seat fitted and the teeth that go through to lock it in position are too long and hit the base. Meaning that the wider part doesnt seat correctly.

What is the best route?

3 Fixes with my limited engineering brain

1) Shave down the teeth. Worried they might pop out of their runners but no idea if that would be the case
2) Holes into the base plate to allow them to travel further and seat nicely
3) Raise the seat slightly on washers, so again the teeth can travel further.

Have I missed a 4th option?

Cheers

Matt

Careful if you cut them. I think some of them retract when you lift the handle for sliding the seat.

Are you talking about the single large pin (left of pic) or the 2 pins together (center of pic) ?

Did you just remove the lugs and leave the little plate section. When I fitted my wingbacks (same bases as yours) I cut the tabs/lugs off but left the raised plate section. I've not had any issue with them not locking.

Send a picture of the seat fitted to the base so we can see the gap you have!

I cut the whole thing off, so the rail was flush to the base.

I have looked at if i had left it and i still think i would get forward and back movement due to the taper of the pins.
Going to try and upload a video

(The commentry aren't direct reply to your comments by the way. This was a reply to a guy on a FB Group)

Did you remove these parts? As these spacer sections need to be kept on the seat

I did :)

But I still think i need more depth for the pins to seat.

If you retract your pins to be inline with the "washer" do you not get a tiny bit of forward and back movement with your seat?

My drivers seat is perfect, however I do get a slight movement on the passenger seat. I assumed the holes had slightly ovaled so left it as is.

After watching your video I can see I'm actually unknowingly having the same issue as you. Doh! Haha

Like you say, a nice thick washer on each corner will sort it. Another little job I'll need to do!

I think a combo of washers and a little tooth filling is probably the required course

Just measured and the VW spacer appears to be 5mm and the pins are 10mm with almost immediate tappering.
