Gladen Tweeter crossover

Hi all, had deadened doors and Gladen speakers installed by @Dav-Tec in my 6.1 a couple of weeks ago. Vast improvement in sound!

However the sound is still a bit harsh despite having the treble all the way down on the head unit.

Been looking at the Gladen Installation manual (linked below) and it says you can cut a wire on the tweeter crossover to reduce their output by 3dB.

Anyone done that please? I think I can get to the crossovers by taking the A pillar cover off?

TIA

I'm surprised at this, we've never had that feedback.

Yes you can cut the wire, Crossover is behind the A-Pillar.

Should have rang or WhatsApp me buddy could have resolved this sooner that way.

No worries buddy, 'tis a timely reply, thank you. Everyone's ears are different I guess.

I did email you yesterday but appreciate you must get millions of emails and you're a busy chap.

Cheers,
Ed

Well that's definitely improved things, tweeters are significantly less spicy now. Thought I'd taken a picture of the crossover but it's a very obvious loop of red wire that needs cutting.

Not seen it buddy, Ian's away, Alfie's got some time off so it's just me for 2 weeks so it's a little bit more mental than usual!

Apologies for jumping on the thread, but I have a quick question, if I may?
Did you go with the rear speaker kit as part of the upgrade and do you think it's worth it? TIA

Hi, no, already had some Hertz speakers in the back, definitely worth it but should have fitted a small amp at the same time.

Just fitted some Gladens myself, plus deadening.

Love the reference to them being spicy, perfect description. After splashing the cash and the effort to install I was trying to convince myself that it was me and not the new setup, but agree needs toning down at the top end.

Will be cutting that crossover later today. 😊

Glad someone else agrees! Get it cut.

What about fitting a small Class D / DSP, would that help as well?

Thinking of installing the Gladens, then a Amp/DSP combo, then Halo 9 at a later date once i have all the bits

Yes. I fitted the little gain only Vibe amp which improves things.

I also tried the VIBE DSP amp with Bluetooth control, it did allow me to mess with crossover values through the amp but was way too complicated for me and it removed my fader on the head unit, and ruined my DAB signal so I put the gain only one back in.

Nice! Do you have a link? I was thinking something like this, used one on my S2000 and worked perfectly:

Nice, and just need to get the correct Vibe adapter to VW i take it?
Yeah there's a Y cable thing, I should've taken more photos.

Got it all from Sean at CEN I think (I have a cold and my mind is fuzzy) he also sold me a speaker impedance emulator thing, not sure that was necessary as I see other people fitting these and no sign of that part.
