Hi all

So it seems with the harsh weather my handles are really struggling to open again. I had the exact same issue last year but just got through it.

I spoke to the local garage and they said it’s to do with the Bowden cables . Have done a little research and seems this is true .

Anyone know a part number for such bits ?
And how easy they are to swap / fit?

2021 t30!

Thanks all

This definitely sounds like my issue , what the score on the age of my van and how it currently is ?
Will they still do this or not ?

Thanks

When we all stuck a key in the door to gain entry door locks got lubricated. Now with push button entry it’s a forgotten task.
Rubber doors seals also need a light dressing of silicone grease.

There was two recalls for this, i did a post showing a picture of what they did (basically wrap the cable in tin foil and cable tie it into a vertical position...). The second recall fixed the first recall which didnt fully resolve the problem from what i understand - mainly that the door would not latch and can swing openly freely when driving which is dangerous. The recall was more for that, rather than not being able to get into the van in the first place i think. Check with VW to see if yours needs the work doing - then insulate the door as much as you can yourself alongside sound deadening.etc.

VW will still honour the recall

Edit - sorry I left that brief response as I was on the school run! I purchased my ‘21 plate van in Feb this year, it had never been back to VW since it was first delivered and they did all the recalls for me in March no problem and the Bowden cable was one of them.
