I presume these spongy bits stay put and I squirt Sikaflex in and then screw in the blanking screws?

Follow up question;

If I have cocked up the blanking bolt application etc, where would I expect to see the ingress of water? It's supposed to hammer it down today so will be a good test .

Depends how your van is sitting? Nose down will run into the A pillar and onto the footwell, I think.
