Fault codes P062B00 and P164E00

Hi all
I was driving the van when suddenly the glow plug coil light started flashing, lost power and when I tried to accelerate, the van jerked heavily as if the brakes were being stamped on and off. Scared the s##t out of me!
I had turned left off of a mini roundabout straight down a very steep hill.
I pulled into a side road and plugged my Carista in right away. It came up with:
Fault Code P062B00 - Internal Control Module Fuel Injector Control Performance
I switched the engine off and restarted and rescanned, the fault code had gone. I hadn't reset the fault code.
I returned home and did another scan, again, no fault codes.
I took the van out a few hours later to see if it would happen again. It didn't.
Upon arriving back home, I done another scan only for this to pop up:
Fault Code P164E00 - Oil Pressure Regulation Valve: Electrical Error.
I switched the van off, restarted and rescanned only for the code to dissappear.
Are codes anything to worry about if they clear themselves? Is the van just having a funny 5 minutes or should I be worried? I'm now feeling very anxious 😟

Fault codes don't disappear just by switching engine off and on - they might move to intermittent/passive state. Sounds like fault code reader "issue" showing only active faults - which is usually good not to worry about something has happended in the past.
Fault Code P062B00
Would be helpful to know details about engine software as the fault was randomly seen on early T6 EU6 engines (false alarm on those).
Please post full engine section of "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu)

Thanks. The engine seems to have the original software. There is a newer one available - version 6166.
Anyways, the P062B is very rare event so I would guess it's not likely to happen again on your van 🤞

A comparison of some features between old and new software below

Fault Code P164E00 - Oil Pressure Regulation Valve: Electrical Error.
The above might be something that eventually needs attention - part replacement.

Thank you mmi for the reply and all the information.
I hope you are right when you say it's a rare event.
Feeling less anxious now!
I will call my local VW van centre this week and enquire about the update. Do you happen to know if the updates are free or charged for?

Sorry, I have no details how it is today in the UK. Perhaps someone local has more information.
The update was mandatory (thus free) on T6 passenger carriers (VIN: WV2...).

Just a heads-up for anyone struggling to remove a stuck N428 oil pressure regulating valve on the CXHA engine. I just removed the aux belt and moved the AC unit out the way

Mine snapped at the body and left the inner sleeve/seating spigot stuck solid in the block. Couldn’t find much online apart from horror stories, so here’s what worked for me

🔹 I used a flat-end file (nothing sharp or tapered — didn’t want to gouge anything)

🔹 Gave it 2–3 medium taps directly into the centre of the stuck sleeve — not brutal, just enough to break the carbon seal

🔹 Once I saw it rotate with mole grips, I applied penetrating oil and slowly worked it back and forth

🔹 After a few careful twists, it slid out — no heat, no pullers, no tapping threads

Thank god as I was stressing out for over 2 hours ringing mobile mechanics to help 🤣

Got to wonder what VW design engineers were hallucinating on when they thought a spool valve would work well in soot laden engine oil.
I love my T6, but the fragility of it makes me a bit anxious. I do miss the simplicity of my old T4.

Looks like a job that required alot of swearing 🤬
I’ve done a few things on this van that are co dispersed not easy, but this caught me out a bit. I was not expecting it to be so tough to remove…Awkward spot to get into as well…. but it’s possible! I’ve proven it lol.

Van runs better now and idles quieter. This oil pressure issue must have been laying dormant for a while as I couldn’t figure out why it was idling a bit rougher with no fault codes. But eventually it got flagged by the electrical side of the valve. I wasn’t going mad after all

Agree and unless the electric side of the valve plays up the ecu won’t flag it unless oil pressure is way out. So it may get jammed in high pressure mode and you have slightly rough idle and fuel economy dips a bit. Thats what I was getting….and also the DSG was behaving strange in low gears. How one little valve can have a knock on effect like that is frustrating. There’s no oil pressure values in vcds to monitor this, only the switches but that’s a bit too primitive to monitor oil pressure

They are built to last 5 years as commercial fleet vehicles, those who pay others to carry out maintenance and repairs need to factor that into the budget.

We had exactly the same experience in Italy a few weeks back. Just driven 400km - filled up with diesel came out of fuel station and wallop - limp mode, hazard lights, glow plug symbol. DTC Code P060C on ODBC App. Limped to side road. Turned off engine and considered calling roadside rescue. Tractor came along so tried to move and the van restarted perfectly. Went to campsite avoiding main roads, Heart in mouth at next diesel fill - no problems. Now back in UK 2000km later - no reoccurrence.

Gremlin or Garage Visit ? - still cant decide

Hard to tell, I’d get a Dongle code reader as they are well worth it with these vans as you can catch issues early rather than waiting for the dash to light up and then limp mode. Ecu will flag it before it shows up confirmed for example
