Factory Towbar - Tailgate Can't Open!

Hi from Australia.
Has anyone else had trouble with their factory fitted (VW) towbar?
The dealer fitted one and I now can't open the tailgate with the trailer hitched!
The dealer is not offering any solution
The ball is too high and/or located too close to the bumper.

Do you mean you can’t open the tailgate because the towbar ball is in the way, or some software in your towbar install is preventing the microswitch from allowing you to open the tailgate?

Is it factory fit or dealer fit? You state both. My factory fit is VERY close to hitting the hitch, but misses it by millimetres. If I had a chunkier hitch it might catch
