Essential toddler kit?

Hello, newbie here,

We’ve got a young family.

With this in mind, are there specific accessories/kit you’d recommend considering installing when converting a van? Or maybe practical things to consider?

Anything you thought you’d add, but realised it wasn’t worth it?

Would welcome any prior experience/recommendations!

Hello and welcome! My son was 4 when we got ours. He used to wriggle a lot and fell out of the pop top once. I’d get a net like the California one if I had a little one in the pop top now.

Leashes, manual washing machine,audio books, robotic voice "we are nearly there", toilet roll dispensers, wipe dispensers, whiskey, appropriate medical bit and pieces, more whiskey. humour.

Hi @jenny-wren .. Camping is about making it fun for kids and you need to have eyes in the back of your head when setting up...Why not consider when buying a windbreak that you can make it into a play area with a gate . inflatable kids chairs etc

Thanks! We’re seasoned campers but new to vans... we hired a T6 recently and yes, we did indeed need more eyes than standard!
It’s amazing how climb-able the kitchen units are

I think Calpol dispensers should be as widely available as hand sanitiser ones currently are!

I got one of those sheets with pockets down the sides that you put inflatable bumpers in to keep my granddaughter in place while sleeping when she was 2/3. Worked well at preventing her from rolling off and she slept like a log.

Brilliant, my daughter is 1 so a net is going to be a must!

In the end, we now face him towards the back of the van, away from the opening. He still wriggles but he’s not fallen out since!

I think it’s a VW part, but there’s one on eBay. It’d need some modification and fettling as it’s designed for a California.
