I couldn't find any info relating to this error code, so for info I thought I'd post my experience from yesterday in case it happens to anyone else.

Van is 2018 150 DSG 44k

Driving close to home, gearbox went into neutral, flashing lights on dash with warnings relating to low tyre pressure and forward radar not working. Thankfully I was able to coast down my drive and stop outside my house.
Plugged in my cheap and basic scanner which gave me an error code U0101 Lost Communication with Transmission Control Module (TCM)
Shift lever locked in P and van would not start, dash was telling me to move DSG lever to P or N
Called RAC who arrived 4 1/2 hours later (luckily i'm in my house and and not stopped on the road), these were the error codes he found:

DTC: U010100,No communication with automatic gearbox
DTC: U112300,Failure of the frame CAN bus

RAC man had a good look over the van and after about 40 mins he found the fault

Turns out it was a 5 amp fuse not directly linked to the gearbox but relating to the gear indicator which is why the dash was telling me to move the DSG lever to P or N when it was already locked in P

He said he's never seen it before and if it wasn't for his diagnostics kit he probably would never had found it. He also said he was initially expecting a very high repair bill but went on to say that in his opinion the VW DSG gearboxes are very, very reliable if properly serviced, his RAC works van has a DSG with 168k miles and never missed a beat.

This is the full report:

Blown fuse was No13, located under bonnet on right side of bay, one up from bottom on right side, 5 amp. He did tell me what fuse was specifically for but I didn't make a note of it

Could have just been a 'glitch in the matrix' but hopefully it'll be the one and only time it occurs
