Hello, I'm new here, today my 2016 T6 DSG was stuck in Park. After multiple attempts, and friggin around with the yellow lever hidden underneath, I eventually got it to unlock. Now I daren't put it back in Park, therefore leave it parked in neutral with the keys in the ignition! No diagnostic error codes found when using my basic device. I found a thread here with the title DSG stuck in park. He found dirty electrical connections beneath the battery. I'll investigate this, but doubt this will be the problem as it's been dry for weeks. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and found the cause/solution. Thanks

Probably a totally different scenario but sometimes they can be very difficult to get out of Park if the weight of the van "rolls" onto the gearbox lock before the handbrake is applied, ie parking on a steep hill. I've had this scenario happen to me a few times and it sounds/feels quite brutal taking it out of Park so what I do now is stop with my foot on the brake, put gearbox into Neutral, put handbrake on and take foot off brake so the weight settles, then put it in Park. The next time I move away its flawless. This might be irrelevant to your circumstance or it might even tell you to do this in the manual I don't know.
One possibility - a failed microswith in the selector, but that would probably produce a fault code.
Another possibility - You need to have your foot on the brake to move the selector out of park, so if the brake switch fails, it may prevent taking DSG coming out of park. Do the brake lights work OK?

Many thanks for the replies and suggestions. With hindsight there was a slight inclination, and I may well have put it in park, released the foot brake, and only afterwards applied the handbrake. Today I tentatively put it in to Park and it functioned correctly. Phew. Let's hope my error was the reason. In future I'll diligently put it in neutral , apply the handbrake and only then put it in Park.
Ahh ok, yeah I have that issue with my caddy. Turn off the ignition while still in drive and the select park. The key will not come out. Have to turn ignition on again
Lets hope that was the problem then, as I said above that was an issue I was having and I do handbrake/neutral every time when parked on a hill but don't bother when on level ground. Maybe some vans are more prone to it than others.
