Hello all. Newish to the forum and new to T6 ownership. I’m having fun so far however my van has a strange whining noise when the revs are increased (it’s not from the passenger seat!). Having looked at other threads I assume it is the aux belt or cam belt tensioner failing, but am not 100% sure so thought I’d see what others think. I can’t pinpoint it under the bonnet. It’s booked in for both to be changed next week but would be good to have some other thoughts. It’s a 150 diesel with 30k miles and coming up 4 years old. Recording of the noise attached below (hopefully if I am working the forum correctly!).

Thanks

Reporting back in case anyone else has similar. As suspected the noise was a failing aux belt tensioner. Belt, tensioner and water pump changed. Cambelt also done at the same time as it was due soon anyhow. Whine gone and problem solved.

Not sure about always, but it is certainly the most common cause assuming your symptoms are the same. I guess it could also be the cambelt tensioner too.
