Engine codes and DPF.

I have 2017 CXHA 150 engine which has fault code P226D damaged or missing.
Haven't removed to inspect DPF but my exhaust is very sooty.
I was driving home one evening and the van was in regen mode.
Went round a roundabout and exited flat out in 3rd gear. Seconds later, almighty bang and we filled the road with black smoke.
No engine lights, smoke cleared and i carried on home. Checked for fault codes and we have P226D.
What do we think, am i on the right path.
Found one with part number 7E0254201QX.
Google search shows this for the CXG.
Does anyone know if the DPF on the CX range of engines in the T6 is the same from
2016-2019.

More info here

Looks like those codes are part manufacturer's codes? Unfortunately I can't pair those with VW part numbers.

The DPF is the same - on EU6 (AdBlue) engines - at least in MY17-MY18.

Every days a school day,
I have attached a picture of the part they reference to as 7E0254201QX.
I thought this was a DPF.As you correctly say, Volkswagen call this a catalytic converter.
What am i looking at as i am only a wood butcher and my previous van was a 2004 174.
s-l1600.jpg

With mine the DPF pressure sensor wasn't working, this has been changed and calibrated.
So at the moment i have no codes.
What i thought was the DPF is actually the catalytic convert as explained my mmi.
Will probable removed the DPF in the next few weeks and get it cleaned.

How you calibrate a presure sensor

Hi Guys,

I have a similar issue with my T6 4Motion 2.0 BTDI CXEB MY2018.
I bought it 4 weeks ago with 135kkm on the clock and issues comes up:)

Have scan it with VCDS and have such a codes:

What is most strange for me is - IDE00435 Particle filter: soot mass measured -9.99 g, why here is this value?
Also this reading - IDE09020 NOx sensor before SCR cat conv: O2 concen. 0.0000
Is it possible that I don't have a sensor before SCR?

Additionally I have notice that my injection correction is pretty high on first cylinder -18us. This possible can also cause some issue with DPF. When I stay for about 10 min and press acceleration, I have nice white cloud after my Van:)

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for help.

How does the exhaust tailpipe look - is it sooty? Wipe with a clean cloth - please post a picture.

T6 4Motion 2.0 BTDI CXEB MY2018.
Please post full VCDS Auto-Scan - there are (at least) 10 different engine softwares on T6 with the spec above. The Auto-Scan helps to determine the exact software.

I guess, you mean why negative value? I guess it's just scaling/offset (thus diagnostics tool's interpretation) as on some engines it's always shown as a positive number.

Also this reading - IDE09020 NOx sensor before SCR cat conv: O2 concen. 0.0000

Most likely correct statement for MY18 CXEB engine.

Additionally I have notice that my injection correction is pretty high on first cylinder -18us.
I believe more data about circumstances are needed - the correction values are actully dynamic depending on engine load etc. etc. See below a snippet of a log of an engine with less than 20.000 miles.

IDE12088Fuel injection time deviation: cylinder 4-273-0.746us

Please post a full engine blockmap data - it possibly sheds some light about engine's history. Preferably engine idling - after minimum of 20 minutes drive - thus everything warmed up.

VCDS > Applications > Controller Channel Map >

NOTE: Works only with VCDS HEX-V2 and HEX-NET interfaces.

Tick the boxes as above and click Go
VCDS flashes scrrens for a moment. When finished click Done.
There will be file(s) blockmap-01-... in folder C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs\...

Even better would be if you could make 3-4 sets of data. Just click Go to make another set. Each set takes about 70 seconds.

my first though was the DFP has been smashed out in a straight through exhaust.

DPF delete?

so the ECU is not detecting any pressure difference?

Hi MMI and Dellmassive,

Thank you very much for quick reply.

Van was serviced in VW garage. I have the service history up to 131 kkm, I bought it from second owner who did only 4kkm. I don't thing they did anything with DPF. They have refurbish both turbines and that's all what they done with Van plus small oil service.

Previously nad even today I had a soot burning in DPF. Engine speed growth. Process took about 20 min. I couldn't record that with VCDS. Process finished just before I have connect PC.

@mmi
Regarding your questions. Exhaust is sooty. This is first thing what I noticed after DPF error code appeared.

I guess, you mean why negative value? I guess it's just scaling/offset (thus diagnostics tool's interpretation) as on some engines it's always shown as a positive number.
Negative value plus this value has never changed. Is always the same -9.99g

I have latest firmware version for this ECU - 6207. I assume this version shall read the value correctly.

Here you have all read outs as requested.

My correction so more visible on first cylinder. Plus I have notice that around the injector is wet. So maybe washer is broken and need to be replaced. Before I do anything I need to buy a set (washes and bolt) for 2 injectors.
Code:
IDE12085 Fuel injection time deviation: cylinder 1 -18 µs
IDE12086 Fuel injection time deviation: cylinder 2 13 µs
IDE12087 Fuel injection time deviation: cylinder 3 2 µs
IDE12088 Fuel injection time deviation: cylinder 4 0 µs

That's not good news. Also the following data (from the two .CSV-files) indicate excessive/non-filtered flow-through.

Engine idling I'd expect the pressure difference across the DPF to be around 7-10 mbar.

Hmmm... that's interesting. The data suggests the DPF regeneration did not finish yet - all the counters below should clear/zeroize when finished.

1679423588352.png

I don't thing they did anything with DPF.
Well, at some point DPF ash accumulation value has been adapted.
1679424165414.png
4.33 grams suggests the value was set to zero approx. 12.000 km ago (7.500 miles).
Mine has 28.2 grams at 80.000 km.

Is it possible the DPF has been replaced with a non-genuine DPF? The OEM DPF should last approx. 300.000 km though.

got a few pics of the exhaust tail pipe?

a finger rub of the soot?

any pics of the underneath, exhaust, back boxes, CAT, DPF?
