EGR fault and front pipe sooting

I was changing the fuel filter last weekend and had VCDS connected to prime it. Spotted a fault while in there but didnt think anything of it as no dashboard fault light.

Today I was under the bonnet with the engine running and got a whiff of fumes and noticed a sooty mark on the front egr stainless pipe.

I’m wondering if the fault is because the pipe is leaking or the pipe is leaking because something is blocked?

I've had my front pipe replaced before.... It was leaking at the gasket front left.(Soot and smell)

Id ignore the implausible signal code for now..just log and delete, and see 😔 f it come back.

But the 12* insufficient flow is a possible sing of a clogged EGR cooler.

They need replacing 30k-60k miles...

What's ur millage and has the EGR been replaced?

I’m on 44k and only problem I’ve had is a failed glow plug. Having read lots of posts I have been anticipating some emissions component replacement around 50K ish miles. Also been thinking of getting the DPF off and cleaned? Its a 102bhp CXGB engine.

Anything else that will need changing / cleaning at the same time? I’ve seen pictures of horrendously clogged inlet manifolds though not sure if an issue on the CXGB?

i had my one done at 61k miles . .

Your EGR insufficient flow fault requires either an 'EGR flush' or replacement, depending on who you use for repair (Flush is usually a dealer repair, as most independents don't have the correct tooling)

The P046C00 fault can be ignored.
