High pitch noise after EGR change

Hi all,

Had my EGR changed last week due to the cooler leaking coolant. When I got my van back I noticed this high pitched noise when I press the accelerator which I’m sure wasn’t there before. Anyone had this before?

Doesn’t happen all the time but mostly noticeable under load when driving. Can’t hear anything when just idling.
No lights are on the dash and the front EGR pipe has been replaced, I can’t see any signs of soot either on front or rear EGR pipe.

looks like a T6.1

but cant hear anything specific. . . . you might need to do a longer clip?

maybe with the phone in the engine bay?

I can't hear it on the clip either , first thoughts are egr pipe split or not sealing properly but if you can't see any soot .... 🤔

Did you ever get a reply to this one?
I had the EGR blanked a few week ago and on driving away from the garage the exact same thing. Sounded like the turbo to me but the whine stopped after about 20 miles, im sure the boost isn't correct so worried I have total turbo failure..... although at 1k to replace it, its an expensive guess°

After about 20 miles it's possible that everything is hot and has expanded to the point where small leaks in a metallic joint have closed.
Is it always the first 20 or so miles? Is it only from cold?

No sorry I meant the first 20 after leaving the garage, its not whistling / whining at all now even from cold, it does feel like the acceleration isnt what it was but I drive reasonably fast cars at work 5 days a week and the van only on a weekend so sometimes its hard to get a gauge on how fast the van should be - especially as its my baby and I dont ever give it hammer.

I had a full scan done on it prior to having the EGR blanked and it did give warnings for (aside from the EGR) P00AF00 Turbocharger / Supercharger boost control "A" module performance. And a couple of warnings for the Manifold pressure and Catalyst performance efficency. I havent had it done sice the EGR was sorted.

Not had it diagnosed no, still does it when it gets up to temperature. It’s been back to the garage where the work was done and they can’t find where it’s coming from. It does sound like a small air leak.. before the EGR was replaced it wasn’t there.
The van runs great though, boost is there and I’m getting around 40mpg on the motorway and it’s showing no faults. It’s a strange one for sure.. the garage said it could be just that it’s a new EGR and needs time to bed in so going to run it as it is and see how I get on.

Has this sorted itself? I had my EGR valve replaced last week. Driven about 150miles and it's started to chirp when accelerating. Engine is warm. Any ideas where to look before I take it back to the dealer.

Mine is still doing it, driven a few thousand miles by now with it too. Would say it’s got a bit quieter but definitely still audible. Let us know what the dealer says if you can

I popped the bonnet and stuck my head in there and found the EGR flow sensor had unscrewed and dislodged itself. I scanned the codes, reset, screwed the sensor back in and drove it. All good now.
