DSG Service cost

Done mine today at breeze southampton for £350 inc VAT. Was quoted by service booking team for £330 but they not write it down in the Booking. However receipt not shown filter price not sure if it been changed.

It’s worth checking with them that the filter has been replaced otherwise the DSG oil service is not in accordance with VW . I would have expected a detailed invoice for this.

It is absolutely shocked me that I called them and they said they haven’t changed the filter. Now waiting them to figure it out and call back.

That’s all they listed on the invoice so if they did they didn’t charge for it!!

I have been sent this document and explained the filter should not be changed because the service interval has been reached. I just don’t get the logic, the filter is old and it should not be changed?

I can’t open that doc. But I have never heard a more ridiculous statement about a filter change. My first call would be to VW customer services with a complaint. Try and get a download of the service information for your DSG model year / VIN.
If it was me I would insist undertaking the service again following VW schedule. Bear in mind that the oil as has now run through a dirty filter. Note the DSG service requires plug in to diagnostics to record oil temp and check parameters. Good luck

Got the document reuploaded. Called the VW UK number they check and told me day filter change interval is at 160k or sooner if contamination been found. I may try to get the service information to have a look

It would seem that VW have assessed the filter (more a strainer) as having adequate capacity to last the life of the vehicle. There is no reason why you can’t request the filter be renewed at extra cost.
The most concerning matter in the whole process is the lack of formal oil analysis to determine if it’s contaminated or not.
A mechanic sticking a magnet in a bucket isn’t a thorough oil quality verification.

It still seems utterly stupid to not to change the filter. The cost of filter and seal ring is circa £50. Considering the cost of a replacement gearbox the additional expense of the filter is not worth thinking about.
I have said before on this forum that I undertake the DSG oil service every 20k simply because I do a lot of towing. Probably OCD but it can’t be a bad thing!

I’d say taking the p…. I would suggest Paddock Performance at Trentham Trade Park. Mike is a wizz on VW.
