Hi All im at the end of my tether i have a T6 T30 Highline 204ps 80000 miles .I've had it 2 years since before Christmas October /November time it has this issue where it wont allways go into drive in 1st gear. Generally from cold it does go in but then driving initially there is a delay on the odd gears so if im accellerating it can go in with a thump. It first did it from auto stop but didnt do it again for a while but now once I've driven it ,it will have a delay going into gear in 1st then very clunky in 3rd and 5th .November i had the gearbox oil and filter done with adaption values ( no change ) Just before Christmas it went to a Transmission garage who did the dual mass fly wheel ,Metatronic repair , and diff spline replacement. (no change) advised full remap needed (no change ) advised new battery needed ( no change ) Advised poor remap map done so done by other ( no change ) Metatronic swapped for second hand supposedly good unit (no change) They have ran out of ideas and its slowly getting worse this is my daily work vehicle and a nightmare .

Any suggestions what it could be

What i do next ,who to take it to

Have i just used a dodgy garage or two

Thanks in advance

Was the transmission oil change done at a VW dealer or VW specialist? It needs a special procedure and the VW specific fluid to change.
I assume you are not getting any error codes on the DSG when you do a scan?

Hi yes the orginal fluid change was done by a local VW specialist but not the gear box as they are transmission specialists. There are no specific scan code related. They said previuosly there were low volt codes hence the battery change.

The solenoids would be part of the Metatronic unit i presume ! if so that was changed for a suppossidly good second hand unit and previously repaired ! The clutch pack is it possible the Transmission Garage didnt check that when They changed the dual mass fly wheel ?

Hi BugMan
I had a similar issue with my CAAC T6 with a DSG, it would not always start off from 1st gear and would jerk sometimes when accelerating from start.
I then performed a recalibration of the accelerator pedal travel (it's basically a linear resistor) and cleaned the MAF sensor, and the problem disappeared.
It may be worth a try, seeing that you have had a lot of guess work done with no results?

Hi RunaboutOZ thanks for the suggestion i have just been out and while running disconnected the MAF sensor and according to other info the van should stop but it didnt ? It did bring up a flashing heater coil light though. So i will try cleaning that and see how we get on. As for the recalibration of the accelerator pedal i have no clue how to do that so i will talk to my garage about that one

Thanks Mark
Sounds like the odd gears clutch pack is sticking then engaging violently.
The odd gear clutch apparently was checked ! and with my research i think i would of had trouble with reverse also and i have never had an issue with that !

Hi BugMan
Here is the procedure:
Accelerator/Throttle Reset Procedure [1]
  1. Ignition On: Turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position (dashboard lights up) but do not start the engine.
  2. Floor Pedal: Press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and hold it for at least 10–30 seconds.
  3. Release: Release the accelerator pedal.
  4. Ignition Off: Turn the ignition key to the 'OFF' position and remove the key.
  5. Finalize: Wait for a few seconds, then start the engine normally. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
