DSG Failure - Wiring Harness rubbed through

Hi all,

I'm looking for some help and advice please. Had ESC and ACC warning lights come on finally followed by gearbox failure. It's a 2021 T6.1 DSG.

I've taken it into the dealers as it's under warranty, they've found that the wires to the round gearbox connector are broken but have said it looks like it was cable tied back which has caused the damage and hence isn't covered as they wouldn't use zip ties (it was bought new from a main dealer and serviced only by main dealers).

Is anyone aware of service actions in this area/harness which may have been carried out please? I've found comments about 34i3 but can't find any details (or whether this even applies to the model/age of mine)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Paul

Jeez....

You got any pics of what we talking about?

So the fix is just a rubbed through wire in the loom?

Sounds a right cop out! I would be fighting this one tooth and nail for warranty

Cheers, I'm trying to get as much background info before I have the call as just got the report late today. There's multiple CAN wires gone so whether repair or replace not sure yet but at the mo the dealer referred to VW customer service.

To me it's either fault with design, harness manufacture or some form of rework.

I’ve found plenty of places on my van where the layout and securing of the OEM harness is a mess. Vehicles built with more electrical functions on the cheap.

Have they said it looks like or was cable tied? If the cable tie wasn't present what it looks like isn't relevant.

Tbh that repair would be 30 mins with solder and shrink anywhere other than a dealer.
My thoughts exactly. If there’s no picture with a cable tie in place then it never existed.
