Double swivel heated seat

Morning all!

With the cold starting to creep in I am looking at retrofitting aftermarket heated seats in my T6.1 specifically Dometic/Waeco MSH300 kit.

My question is, I have a double swivel passenger seat, can I still fit heater elements into this? How would it work with the swivel and the folding of the seat back and the lifting of the seat to get to the storage area?

I assume I will also be able to take the power from the cabling under the seats or would I be better powering from the leisure battery?

Any advice welcome as always please.

You need a swivel specifically for a T6.1 as they have a hole in the middle to let the wires through.
You talk about wires under the seat so assuming you’ve already got this?

If so then you can pick up supply from there. I’ve not seen it with a fold down seat so don’t know about that, but for the storage access the loom extends and is clipped across the front. The “loom” drops down inside the storage area from the front lip when not in use so you need to be careful when storing stuff.

Fishinbrine as there isn’t a way to pass a cable through your double swivel the alternative would be to have a connector mounted somewhere on your seat base so that you can disconnect the wiring loom before rotating the double seat. The folding of the seat back isn’t a problem as the heating pads come in pairs with a section for each seat and backrest with cables joining the two halves. I would suggest that you also mount the switches for the heated pads on the seat base as well to minimalise the the wiring connections

Yea that sounds like a plan, however, if the seat pads are connected together, how could this work with the seat being a storage seat and opening up? Is it possible to extend the wiring that joins the 2 sections of the heating pads?

Just extend the wires between the pads using suitable gauge cable and either bullet connectors or butt connectors. No pun intended on the connector type

You can pass cable through a double swivel. As aforementioned you need a swivel base specifically for a T6.1, which Kiravans do.

Basically the swivel bolt through the middle is replaced with a threaded tube. Personally I’d be make sure the tube was lined and cable double insulated as I wouldn’t trust it with all that movement. But it’s possible.
