T6.1 - Double > Single seat swap. Will seat heating work, or do I need coding done?

Hi All,

I have a new to me T6.1 which came with OEM heated seats (with a double passenger bench).
Looking to swap the double for a single, which I know is straight forward, from a fitting point of view...

What I haven't been able to find an answer on is the heated seat wiring. If I buy a single seat with OEM heating, is it a simple plug+play swap, or does it require wiring / coding work?
I found a few unanswered threads across various sites alluding to the seat heating potentially not working, as the van is searching for 2 heated pads, not 1 - Can anyone confirm?

Thank you in advanced!

I'm going to say it should be plug and play. I have just retrofitted oem seat heating to my single drivers and double passenger bench and can confirm they both have the same plug connector. One per seat.
The only difference is that the seat heating pads on the bench will be slightly wider but again there is only one connector to plug into for this.

However, im not sure if the single seat base will cover the opening in the rubber floor for cable entry. On the bench seat this is more situated under the seat base closest to the drivers seat.

Hope this helps.

Agree that it 'should' just work. I went the other way and the connector from my old single was identical to the new double. Heating works as expected.

Did you get your seat swapped and any joy with the heating? Not that you need it at the minute(keeping cool being more the issue).
Yes, swapped over and seems okay.

As far as I can tell, I think the double has two separate heating plugs, the single has one, so just a case of one not being connected (I’m not seeing any errors etc on the dash, but haven’t scanned for error codes).
