Door prop for Dometic CR50x

Has anyone worked out how to keep the door of a Dometic CR50x propped open when powered down?

There are some door props on eBay and even found a 3D printer plan for one online, but nothing specific to this model.

Cheers.

I asked a similar question about the Sanjo 3J 50lt fridge and didn’t get any replies, so contacted the manufacturer direct in China. They are making a small plastic push in clip to fit the lock/handle mechanism, said they would let me know once available for sale. I’ve seen the prototype and it looked promising 👍

I've always been happy to just use the built in stop (grey thing at the top centre of the door). The fridge has never been smelly (if, indeed, that's what you're worried about) and I've never noticed any rattles coming from it - I did used to close the door on a small piece of white foam when in transit to stop any noise but don't bother with it any more.

Don't seem to have a built-in stop there. There is a little black latch that drops when the handle is operated. Nothing that would hold the door locked open?

Try moving the metal clip on the body of the fridge. It will wiggle left and right and pop open to allow an air gap when the door is shut.

Mine has a silver half-moon in the body of the fridge, above the door, labelled VENT. Push that to the left and it latches the fridge door ajar.

Don’t see any sort of metal clip?

Don’t seem to have this either?
We never turn ours off, emergency 'rations' kept in there! Prosecco and Guinness!
Tried that but then if I don’t drive the van for a couple of days the LB runs down!
Sponge and a strip of gaffer tape
This might just be the only solution!

Solar panel/bigger solar panel?

Don’t have solar and (this issue aside) don’t feel the need to go down that route. I have an EcoFlow power station and EcoFlow alternator charger to keep it topped up.
Is your fridge running off the EcoFlow then? No leisure battery at all?

I've just re-read the title and see it says Dometic CR50x rather than CRX50 which is my fridge. TBH, I've never heard of the former (but that doesn't mean much!) but I did google it and an 'Alpicool CR50x' showed up. Don't take this the wrong way but are you sure yours is not one of them?
FWIW, this is the locking mechanism on mine:

Ayjay you are the winner of this thread and I am a complete dope 😂

You are correct. My fridge appears to be an Alpicool CR50X. In my (feeble) defence there is no obvious branding on the fridge itself or even the manual, and I keep the manual next to the one for my Dometic cooker. I just always assumed the fridge was Dometic too. I should have known better as the original converter cut a few other corners…. Doesn’t help that Alpicool have cunningly named the fridge so similarly to a Dometic model!

So that kind of settles it. Looks like a sponge and gaffer tape are the way forward - or a new fridge!

Thanks all and sorry for wasting folks’ time.
