The Idea
When building my van, i wanted a table which could be used while standing outside the van, either at the side door or out the rear.

The idea being i'll have easy access to my fridge from the side door and can use it for a work surface at the rear if im working on my MTB at a bikepark.

I also wanted an excuse to design something custom that i can 3D print for the van.

I liked the idea of the Riemo table rail kit, however it's only available in silver/grey which i didn't think would go with the interior. I did see this other style rail, which is available in black but i wasn't sure if the table must always be perpendicular to the rail or not. I wanted to be able to level the table, even if the van is wonky.

I bought a long enough adjustable leg in black and used some 15mm OD Carbon tube. Then started to design the parts

I havent tested this yet, but im confident it'll be strong enough to support some weight.

Photos first, details on the design after.

The Design
My design is very similar to the Riemo one, i even included a sliding lock. I had to design in a way where i can orient the 3D printed part so its the strongest where it needs to be. Layer lines in FDM printing are the weak part. Line grains the wood.

It's printed in ABS to withstand heat, although the sliding lock parts are PLA. Can print these again in ABS if required.

The tube mounts slide into the ends of the carbon tube

I'm thinking of modifying the design a little to include an integrated hook on one end. And also considering designing and printing a plug to cover the screw heads.

I'll also design and print some clips to hold it against the lid of the bench storage
