Diy Black Out Screens...

Hi All,

Cant justify the cost of a set of thermal blinds that will only get used once in a blue moon, has anyone made their own? Thinking, some black fabric with bubble wrap inside and magnets to attach?

Or are there any cheap 'off the shelf' alternatives?

I made some black out blinds for my Kombi side windows with blackout material and magnets from ebay, works very well and cheap.
Used fabric glue to secure magnets to the material and folded edges over, job done.

I made a set from a roll of insulation from Screwfix, marker pen & pair of scissors. Took a couple of hours & some head scratching but I'm more than happy. I may may another set for next year with "tweaks" now we've used them for a season. If you're careful with the cutting, they are self supporting, no magnets required. Cost about £15

Sorry no, I simply marked out the material from the inside, held in place with the magnets, marked with a pencil and cut it to suit.

We've gone down the DIY route as there was nothing in the market that suited. No templates required as simply measure the H, L & radii. Black blackout material is cheap enough and we just added some classy finish.
