Did you relocate your cargo area courtesy lights?

I haven’t but I have kept the lights and the loom still exists if I wanted to try and reinstall them.
I will say now that it’s dark in the evenings, you definitely need a light source so if you do away with them you will want alternative lighting with easy to reach switches.
I think long term I will probably try and hook something into the courtesy system though.

I didn’t do my conversion but it’s been utilised to illuminate/ back light the water tank which being a white opaque polypropylene jobby shows exactly how much water is in there without adding a level gauge. All good till the lamp gives out I suppose.

Yes, to the back and the side.
Left roof beam back in and trimmed. Original courtesy light refitted, and it lights up, and no blown fuses!
Rear ceiling panel in. Vw courtesy light in place, and speakers installed. Speakers actually work, thanks again to this forum with the info. I’ll need to code the fader for when daughter doesn’t want to listen to our music!
I removed the lights and had the loom taped to the body.
I have 4 led spotlights fitted into the pop top bed board and have these on a remote control.
The leisure battery is a LiFePO4 so I don’t often turn the isolator off, so plenty of light from the fitted LEDs.

I’m going to dig into the roof to find the loom and use it for a step light, personally I think this is the best use.
I’ve got spotlights in the bedboard for “big lights”.
Nothing worse that sneaking out for a piss in the middle of the night and the van lights up! Glad they’ve gone!
Next job is to fit a tiny switch on the passenger side B pillar to turn the spotlights on. As above, it’s pretty dark in the back, especially when I’ve kiddies seatbelts to put on!

I wanted to follow up on my experience of moving the courtesy lights. I couldn't figure out what fuses would protect the circuit so I disconnected the battery before modifying the wiring. I had to extend the cable of the rear one to drop it down the rear pillar, I carefully peeled back some of the black cloth tape the binds the wiring loom, snipped the connector off with a couple of inches spare, then connected with 2mm cable using WAGO connectors. This is now fitted in the rear quarter ply panel I made and will illuminate the luggage area.
The middle courtesy light position is TBC, but possibly in the RIB bed fascia board illuminating the floor area. I followed a similar procedure of cutting the wire, again I wound back the cloth tape and there was enough cable to get it down to the rear quarter without extending it. I did have to remove the connector to do this, and I inserted some
corrugated ducting up the C pillar to accommodate the cable, that went pretty easy as it goes.
