Advice Appreciated on Specific Spec for T6 to campervan

Hi All, having sold my T28 day van, I want to buy a base vehicle to get a full conversion done but don't quite know where to start again! Any help appreciated. I want ideally a SWB but think I might have to go LWB for what we need.

Priority is an onboard shower/toilet room. I know there are the Joolca tents etc, but other half will only travel if there's a bathroom/shower/loo onboard

We don't need beds or seats for dogs or children, only two of us, but due to a leg muscular progressive medical issue, a downstairs single bed or sofa/single bed would be helpful in future proofing.

Not interested in motor homes as would like to be able to drive and park easily in urban areas also and go more rural in Ireland, Scotland and UK and I like the VW/Custom size overall.

The following is my ideal spec in order of priority:
  1. Vertical Elevating full length pop top roof with bed - thinking full length to allow for shower room in rear area below -
  2. One seat sofa/rib seat on rails or ply built unit that can be used by day as sofa, and as single bed if needed on one side
  3. Shower/toilet room at rear of this - looked at the Cinderella toilets and Jerba hot shower unit - wonder if this is possible?
  4. Ideally no gas on the vehicle - would use Ecoflow/Bluetti or Jackary powerstation to run airfryer, coffee machine, panini press etc - would be eating out more than doing dinners, so just for coffee, light meals etc so a small kitchen counter area without a gas hob would suffice behind sliding door side - but then thinking would I need a sink for washing up or could I do away with that too and use a mobile wash up station (like Boxio sink) ?
  5. Heater definitely for use in colder weather
  6. Swivel captains seats (heated! :) with extendable table stored in wall when not in use but a space to use for work/laptop etc
  7. Ply storage units around inside sides low and at height also for storing powerstation and kitchen appliances and smaller items safely
Would do usual interior trims like Vanblinds and spotlights and charging points etc and aim for solar panels on roof too.

I would like to get this priced up with some professional conversion companies. The company I used for previous part-conversion was VW-T in Henfield Sussex but they seem to have gone out of business since, which is a shame as they did great job.

It will probably cost the price of a small house but would be curious to know if this is possible and if so, what base vehicle would be a best choice - eg do I look at something like VW Cali Beach as base van or go with basic T6 DSG panel van and would shower room be possible? There is a Turkish van conversion company I saw on Instagram called @ArsimaKaravan advertising some lovely looking conversions using vertical elevating roof and they have shower/loo also built in so wondering if all the above is feasible?

Any advice, pointers, suggestions very welcome and sorry if this is on wrong thread, I wasn't sure where to post?

I just started to look at those.

I meant to say Joocla shower unit rather than Jerba, lol, I have some many brands saved, getting mixed up on my J's 😀
Isn’t the Joolca shower gas powered?
I’ve seen a lot of vans and layouts, but I’ve never seen a t6, LWB or otherwise with a proper shower and loo. We have a Thetford porta potti and a tailgate cold shower. The loo has never been used in 9 years and we’ve used the tailgate shower a couple of times after a beach day to rinse the sand and salt off. I’d like a shower/loo in our next van but it’s going to take a medium base MAN/Crafter to be practical.

My neighbour wanted a T6 conversion, and had similar requirements to you.
After 2 days trawling around the Motorhome & Caravan show he concluded that a 5.4m Motorhome was the only way.
may not be too far from you.

Some converters have done rear bathroom conversions in the past on lwb transporters ie Autosleepers. might be worth looking up images to get an idea of layouts. They do seem to compromise on the rest of the living area. I would have thought plenty of small converters would be able to do something but as you say probably cost. If it doesn't have to be a transporter then options expand as the big boy converters seem to prefer Transits.
