Depress Clutch to start error

Last week, randomly, I could not start the van. It displayed the depress clutch to start. Tried loads of time over a 24 hour period and the error remained. Disconnected the battery for 20 minutes. No change. Had the van recovered to the garage. Checked immediately before it went on the low loader, same error.
As soon as it got to the garage, it started no probs. It’s been at the garage since Monday and it has started every time, hence they can’t read any error message.

Do I bite the bullet and replace the clutch switch, which I’m told is the clutch master cylindar at about £300, or do I collect the van and live with the threat of it not starting….?

I don’t have MyiCarly, but im
Told it would not read a clutch switch error or even clear it ! So no point in me getting one?

The garage is pulling your plonker. The hall sensor can be changed, part number should be 5Q0927810, it's used on loads of VW group cars - cost will be around 60-80, new from the dealer is £111
