Cut Caravelle floor rails

Hi all,

Looking to convert a panel Van for use as both a work van and for use as a base at kids sports events!

Have seen "cut"caravelle rails for sale but unsure if they would work?

Looking to have triple bench seat in std kombi position but with the option to push forward for work and back a little for some more space with front seats on swivels? IE the full length not really required. And maybe more prone to damage in unused rear sections.

Would anyone have any comments regarding bolts, cross members or any other reasons this would be a bad idea!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I can’t say I have heard of rails being cut shorter…
And are you saying you’re concerned that the rails will get damaged? Because you can replace the top caps in that case.

Not knowing where the rail fixing points are, I can't advise on whether they can be shortened or not. My solution would be to have a removable rear floor for 'work' that sat over the rails and could be lifted out when you wanted to slide the bench back.
