For the sake of £12 I'd spray some of this on the Aux belt and see if the noise goes away. At least if it does you know it's not the cam belt causing the issue.

silenced after just a whiff of spray mechanic has checked for wear or deflection next we are going to put a none ac belt on and see how it goes, will update

So put a shorter belt to bypass the ac compressor and squeak has vanished so we know what the next job is:mad:

Squeak has returned with a passion another new tensioner and belt original vw this time i am getting to the stage now i am thinking of parting with her

is the belt all aligned especially over the tensioner? I recall an issue where the belt wasn't aligned over the tensioner which caused issues including squeaking. A later version tensioner was supposedly the fix I think.

it's a brand new vw tensioner so i would hope it's fixed. the problem is when do i stop getting things changed we know its not the ac compressor the alternator pulley has been changed the crank pulley also i do think it's an alignment issue as it keeps stripping off the sixth rib on the belt

this was the thread on the mis-aligned tensioner.....
