Considering a 2022 T6 Highline – Concerned About Mileage

Hi all,
First time posting, though I’ve been lurking for a while and soaking up the great info here. I’ve been on the lookout for a well-kept T6, and my local VW dealer just got one in that ticks nearly all the boxes: it’s a 2022 T6.1 T32 Highline PVL, 204bhp A7F in Indium Grey. Looks immaculate on the outside and seems to have been well cared for.
The only thing giving me pause is the mileage—153,000 km (around 95,600 miles). I’d originally hoped to find something under 100,000 km, so I’m wondering if I’m overthinking it. I popped in for a quick look this morning, but it was up on the lift so I didn’t get to see inside. They’ve invited me back Monday for a proper test drive.
I’ve never owned an automatic before, but I really like the idea of it. Are there any specific things I should ask about or inspect with this engine and gearbox at that mileage? Should I be checking whether the timing belt and water pump have been replaced? Anything else that typically needs attention around this stage?
It’ll be my daily driver, so I want to make sure I’m not walking into trouble. Any advice or experience would be hugely appreciated!

There are two elements to this, as I see it;
Firstly, a van that's covered a lot of miles in 3 years is likely to have been used for long journeys. In diesel engines that's a good thing, frequent short journeys where the engine and exhaust system don't get up to full operating temperature are not good news. Also, with any petrol or diesel engine much of the wear occurs when the engine is started from cold, so daily long journeys aren't as bad as the mileage might suggest.
Now obviously you'd rather buy the same van with much lower mileage - but it'd probably be priced much higher. A high mileage van or car can be great value if the price reflects the mileage.
At 95,000 miles there are a number of issues you could run into, some more expensive than others. It'll be due a cam belt soon on the basis of the miles, rather than the age, but again, if you factor that into your negotiations it shouldn't automatically be a deal breaker.
There are T6's around with more than twice the mileage of your potential purchase, condition and history are at least as important. I'd want to see proof of regular servicing.
The price is the key, if it's right, it could be a good deal.

Thanks for the advice. Good to know high mileage isn’t a deal breaker if it’s been well maintained.
I’ll ask about the cam belt and DSG service when I go back. Dealer hasn’t said much yet, so I’ll dig into the history. It’s listed at €32,950 + VAT, which feels high, but I’m hoping there’s room to negotiate or get those services included.
Anything to look out for with the BiTDI at those miles?
Appreciate you sharing your experience — it’s given me a clearer idea of what to look out for.
