Great News everybody.
A fix for the 00:00 time problem.

VW have the solution and have released updates.

For my VW Caravelle that uses version 02xx software that fixes this problem.

For those who know what they are doing, here is the simple method,

Upgrade to Version 0255 MST2_EU_VW_PQ_P0255T 3G8919360FD

Downloadable from https://mibsolution.one/#/1/9/MST2/-TechniSat Preh/Firmware/VW_PQ/EU

or

Expand it onto the root directory of a SD Card, 4Gb to 16Gb, inserted into SD Slot 1.
Be sure the content is in the root directory.

Press and hold Menu button for 10 seconds to start Service Mode, (takes a while)

Then go -. Software update -> Versions -> Select Release and chose the file

Then let it run.

Then your time will be correct. I don't think you need to go further, though the geeky people might want to have no faults recorded.

Now for the difficult bit.....

Using VCDS, if you’ve not got VCDS then I can’t help with this stage.

I found an Error in the 5F module. Though I don’t think you need to clear it as all seems to work properly.

My VCDS came up with a 1555 - Check Software Version Management error.

J-IMG_20251227_184410.webp

I cleared it, but it came back.

Go into Adaptations
I had to find IDE02502 Confirmation of installation change.
Go into it and write down the Stored value.
Then goto website
Enter the value, press return and see the new value.
Back to the VCDS and do Go Back, then into Secure Access and enter code S12345
Then immediately back and into the Adapations IDE02502
Enter the new value, and Do it!.
Here an error appeared on mine, but the code seems to have been accepted as the error code has now gone away.

N-IMG_20251228_194254.webp

Clear up and tidy away and all should be well.

Now for more detail,

My hardware is H22

My original version was MST2_EU_VW_PQ_P0245T (0245-2).

Version 0255 is the latest available for my hardware, I tried 0369T but it failed with error
“Can’t use Update Container. The current Software Download application is too old.”
That means my motherboard is too old. So stuck at versions 02??.

So importantly, the update I used only applies where the currently installed version is “MST2_EU_VW_PQ_P0???T. Any other will probably fail and you need to start searching at
https://mibsolution.one/#/1/9 (Although I suspect the 00:00 time fault only occurs on MST2_EU_VW_PQ versions of Discover Media).

Other manufacturers, Skoda, Audi, I hope users will be able to find the correct version for their vehicles.

I have the same head unit in my Tiguan and you can force newer versions to update, bit of file hacking if IRC but now i have 0478 running. I know the wifi module stops working due to its version for what it's worth but there was a warning of this in the "how to".

So long ago since I did it, I can't remember what improvements it gave me , I know the skin clock doesn't work due to a missing module. kinda funny going back the future.

Hi
Yes, I did think about that, but its above my skill level and I'd need to rewind my brain 30 years to do that sort of hacking.
And I couldn't see any significant advantage in version 4, so haven#t put the effort into digging further.
I did see there is a version 0480. Is that of use to you?
Have fun
Derek

Sw -is software version.
Check on sticker, or in diag
Hi
The only SW reference I can find, withot taking the dash apart to look at the labels, is the software I've just uploaded
MST2_EU_VW_PQ_P0255T
I think it was the jump from 0254 to 0255 that actually solved the clock problem.
It was released Dec 3rd 2025, which was along time since 0254, released Jan 2022, so I guess VW have organised a fix for the clock.

I've had a t-roc, for 2 years and intermittently the clock would change to a random time ,trip meter would reset to zero some other dash displays would change. Told them about it for 18mth and I thought they didn't believe me, so I took photos. Went for service in August and they diagnosed it needed new 5F unit so they ordered it and booked the job. Day before refit they cancelled saying no part available. After some emails and calls it transpired VW had a software upgrade. So I reckon it's been a common issue. Day of upgrade they had the car all day(jct600 york),they had me there at 09:00, they rang me at 3;30 to collect. Sat there waiting 45min then was told system had crashed and they needed it the next day. Girl was very apologetic and said I could keep courtesy car to use. I live 40 miles away on coast. She asked if there was anything they could do re the inconvenience? All I asked (and I'm sure it's possible from reading this forum), was? There is one clock on satnav screen and it annoys me to death looking across for it, so I said can the technician add a clock to the dash (maybe where the compass is). She said I'll ask. When I went to collect, day after she'd obviously not asked and said it wasn't doable.
Can that be done?

I had aproblem with crashing, though not written it up. There's a tick box in VCDS to do with the starting display, when it was set to the one thar shows GTE it would crash when a route was edited. It's very cold here and I've not got the kit connected, nor time to write it up proplerly. I don't think my VCDS cable works on VWs after 2019, It wouldn't connect to a 2020 van I had on hire, I would need to upgrade to newer connection but hat's an expense that has to wait.. More in a few days.

Hi It sound like you have a similar Caravelle to me, 2016 Exec 204. How you getting on with engine?
Sound to be honest, No issues . i do all my services now (10 year old) i probably over service if anything. we dont do huge miles in it other than holidays once or twice a year..

Hi just tried the above update for fixing clock issue. I had to download off the second link (99b.uk link) as the first one asks for login name and password? So downloaded to my iPhone transferred onto 4gb sd card and when I put it in van and try and update I get this message? Any ideas anyone or anyone else had same issue, thanks in advance

I have had the same issue when trying to update mine. Did you get anywhere with yours?

No mate I never got anywhere with it, decided to replace the head unit in the end.
I tried with a larger sd card and loads of other attempts but just got fed up with no radio in. The end and got a second hand Kenwood on here. Glad I did now as I put reverse camera on it too.

I am curious - the threads above talk about expanding the .rar file which I understand is the same as unzipping a .zip file. I will need an app for my mac to do that, so will I've it a go and see what happens. Glad you got it sorted with a new head unit.

So it has worked! On my Mac I had to use a "The Archiver" App to un-archive a .rar file, downloaded from the above links. I then had to move the subfolders direct into the SD drive, so they appear like this image below. Then the Discover Media Unit could read them. It took about 5 mins for the unit to update itself cycling through various things, and the clock is perfect, and none of the memory of the system was deleted either - so remembers stored locations and blue tooth etc. Screenshot 2026-04-17 at 12.03.22.webp

Good evening everyone, I urgently need help, I also had the problem of the clock at 00:00, I downloaded the file and uploaded the update to the infotainment, but when it finished, this image appeared and I don't know what to do...
