An interesting one.

Tried Carista today. Bonnet up, ignition on and away it goes...only to hang up at 32% of the scan and stop there.

The Carista dongle works fine with Car Scanner Pro, so im assuming (for the moment) that the dongle is OK.

Have searched the forum, can find nowt about this. Do you awesome chaps (or chapesses - I respect your diversity) have any ideas? Its not the end ofnthe world as CSP,is pretty good, but as I've a paid Carista subscription it'd be nice to have it working.

Why bonet up?

Try bonet closed.
Engine running.
Doors closed etc.

Run full scan.

I’ve only ever used mine with bonnet down (doors closed and ignition on) and it has always completed scans and altered settings as expected.
Never tried bonnet up although I had read a few comments that suggest that’s what you need to do for some aspects of Carista (maybe modding settings?).
Having said that mine is a 2014 van so probably not as ‘smart’ as the modern vans computer wise.

@Sasquatch FWIK has a late T6.1 (actually someone would say a T6.2 🤪). I am quite sure, having myself the same uncommon (for this Forum) setup, for the most simple adaption changes (i.e. coding a bulb as "LED" type) you DO need the bonnet open. This a "safety" feature of the Bus platform, nothing to do with the diagnostic tool you use. So I think he is quite right keeping the bonnet open, just in case.
About the problem at hand, this is not the first time that I hear Carista has troubles recognizing a T6.1 (and later) vehicle, but I assumed they catched up with the last SW versions.

Other diagnostic/programming kit I've used required doors/bonnet closed only for certain things and not for others.

cheers Cooky, that gives me hope. I've raised a ticket with thew Carista people, see what they say, otherwise I may try it again and sit and read the paper while it chews on the data.

Hokay, I followed cookie's advice and after about 40 minutes it ran through the whole sequence and worked, so thank you.

I'd already raised a ticket with Carista and after the scan it came up with an option to send debug data, which I did. All now seems dandy.
