Captain's seat to Bench seat

Afternoon all,

I'm currently using a 2014 Kombi with twin Captains seats.
However, it doesn't entirely suit my needs, and I'm looking at swapping out the passenger for a double bench seat.

Can anyone advise if they've done this before? Are all the bolt holes/threads there for the new bench? I understand it's 6 bolts instead of 4?

Can’t help on the swap question but just to let you know I have an unused bench seat available if you haven’t sourced one.

It's 8 nuts not 6 and you have to drop the fuel and adblue tank to get at 2. Need to check the airbag isn't a single too

I didnt realise 2014 T5.1's came with Adblue and more than 6 seat base bolts?

Are all the bolt holes/threads there for the new bench? I understand it's 6 bolts instead of 4?

Yup should be 6 bolt locations under the cab mat

You do realise that a single captain’s passenger seat is miles more desirable than the bench and miles more comfortable?
To the point single captain’s seats sell second hand for around £900 and I’ve seen several people giving the bench away. In fact there’s one being given away in the for sale section on here at the moment.
Also you will need to exit the vehicle and walk around to the side door to access the back.

I’d agree with the above and am going to single seat in the new van but I must admit I will miss the storage and ability to have the dog on the front seat with us!

Yeah I get the benefits of the captain's. Unfortunately the storage and additional seating is the main draw for me. (Plus I won't be the one sitting there!! )
With an aftermarket folding bracket that should help make it more comfortable, plus enable me access to the back when folded down.

Did you ever change to a bench? Were the bolt holes there with captive nuts? Also does the single captains seat have an airbag? I need to get a heated front bench for mine (picking it up in a week).

I went from captains to bench. It just had 4 extra holes covered with stickers and there was a single air bag which needs swapping for a double.

Oh nice! Sounds like the actual mounting is easy enough. How easy was the airbag to sort?

It's not the seat that has the airbag - it's the airbag in the dash that needs swapping.
