Can I change my 2011 T5 Transporter wheels from steel 205/65R16C to alloy 235/55/17 and if so will I need spacers and speedo recalibration and any idea if it will affect the ride significantly? I'd be really grateful for any advice. Thanks. Sid
It is definately an OEM option on the T6 so very likely on the T5 as well. The main things is to check:
Load rating
Stud pattern
Offset
Whether the rims clear the brake calipers

I changed my OEM Steel 16's on my T5.1 to 17" Devonports from a T6.1. I got my local indie tyre garage to check & fit them and fit Michelin Agilis CrossClimate - 215/60R17 109T's. They are about 5% larger IIRC. The Speedo now reads almost spot on where previously was over by 5% or so. The ride quality is significantly better, which I think is due to the tyre quality. Grip and steering much more precise. Should be though as those tyres were eyewateringly expensive (for me).
(The van came with SuperMetal 18 rims & 255/45/18 Tyres which were dreadful)
