Hi all,

Planning a road trip from Orleans down the Loire to the coast, then heading up to Brittanny. We have just under 3 weeks. Probably ferry to Calais as it's cheaper, and come back from St Malo. Any suggestions on itenery and good sites would be welcomed. Do I need to book? We have an 8 year old, so will have to consider her needs for a fun time. Thanks all.

I’m not too good on that part of France but what I can recommend are:
Beaugency - camping Val de Flux. Pretty town next to the Loire.
Chinon is nice and has the castle. Lots of Joan of Arc links etc.
Ile de Re well worth a few days if you want to drop a little south. But if you’re going in high season you might find it a bit packed and pricey - it’s Paris-on-sea in July and August.

Brittany - your child (and you) would love Camping du Letty. Also, Chateau de Galinee is great the night before the St Malo ferry back. (Or, for a couple of nights!)

Some great ideas there follks, thanks. Late in the planning, its been a busy start to the year, but getting excited for it now.

Best campsite I’ve ever been to, generally do a few days every year now. Kid will love the pool and they do a great kids show and fireworks on the weekend.

it’s about an hour from St Malo, def need to book
