Camperking electrical issue..

Hi All, just bought a Camper king which came with a dead leisure battery. Once I uncovered the battery behind screwed in panels it had completely split open and leaked! See photo.. Anyway replaced it with a AGM battery and the lights work, nothing else is lighting up of the control panel but the heater seems to work even though it’s not lit up as on on the control panel.. i’ve checked every bladed fuse and all seem Okay.. Any ideas?? I’m think pulling the dreadful battery out has shorted something out.. thanks!

Has all the acid leaking out not destroyed a load of stuff around it?
I’d be concerned about the state of the van below where the battery sits.
Sorry can’t help you with your problem but If that was me I’d be getting all my wiring checked thoroughly by an auto sparky.
You’re lucky your van hasn’t burned to the ground.
Your van going on fire should be your first concern.

Ditto to the above - but I would also wonder if that battery has been overcharging which might account for the level of (unusual) damage. Was this a private or business sale? This would affect how much recourse you might have with the seller.

Hi, thanks for your messages.. yeah, was a bit of a shock when I slid the battery out!😱 I bought it privately knowing the battery was likely to be dead as the previous owner only used it 6 times in 8 years! I got it for a good price, I’ve had it fully serviced including. Cambelt and dsg service.. Everything else is spot on…. Apart from a swollen panel to replace and a little surface rust on the rib bed frame and my ruined pair of jeans now with acid holes in all seems okay.. if anyone out there knows of a good auto electrician let me know!
