I love a caddy I had a 2009 2.0tdi 140 great engine.
Had it 10 years never failed a mot and never let me down still going strong now.
The 1.6 tend to get injector issues and can be a pain in the ass to change but nothing horrendous to report I don’t believe.
What about a 1.0 or 1.2 tsi then you don't have to worry about ulez or dpf issues. That's what our young-un wants for his first vehicle next year. Along with 20s, hybrid bumper and a colour change, but then again he has no concept of money as he's a tw@t

The 140 CAAC engine is reliable no Adblue, I bought mine on 38K, it's now on 90K on just frequent servicing. If he needs to use ULEZ roads it's a no-go but certainly a reliable economical engine.
Thanks for comments so far everyone, I'm learning a lot about these things, the scene seems to be very similar to the Transporter scene except no poptops. I'm amazed people convert Caddys into full campers!
No ULEZ stuff to worry about as we're in Yorkshire, 1.6 injector issues noted, yes a petrol would probably be better.
Anything you want to know about caddy engines and maintenance I'd recommend watching DTE tv on youtube. Nathan does allllll the mods imiginable and is very in depth in how the workings are
