Buying A Van That Is Ply Lined A Bad Idea?

Hi all, I've been looking for a van for a while.
There is one that Im considering but its ply lined.
My plan is in the ling term to convert it. So if its already ply lined would this make it impossible or much harder to line with the sound and thermal materials?

I've seen that most ply floors are bonded in. Would it be hard to remove?

These may be stupid questions, but Im completely new to this.

Thanks in advance.

Will take you all of an hour tops to remove ply .

Presume it’s just screwed in and boxed wheelarches?

Removing the ply lining is simple..

Just cut the sealant and take out a few screws..

But getting a second hand van with ply lining is essential...... if not you will find the inside and possibly external panels damaged and battered, causing you more work/agro than unscrewing the ply lining in the first place.

As above....without ply lining the van will have been dented from the inside out! If the ply is in good condition it can be covered in carpet and put back in. Or you can use it to make patterns for new panels.

Agree with the above its not a bad thing, only down side is there will be a few small holes in the metalwork from the screws that secured it but if you have plans to line it etc these will all be covered anyway

IKEA leds in the roof and it’s sorted for work and occasional nights out! Plus it was cheap!!

Nice . . . . . . . had to look twice tho . . . . . Sprinter !!

Have to agree with above as I bought a second hand van for converting, removed all the lining which was a bit of a mess and after a wash had a nearly new looking van. The only issue i had was the installer (not VW) had screwed the plastic blocks into the metal in random places and by the looks of it had a couple of goes! The trouble is these were in places that didn't get covered when I did the conversion. May not be an issue but my OCD meant I had to install some Van shade blinds ;)

This is my worry, screw holes everywhere if its been installed badly.

Snap I couldn't cope with random holes on view.

I think you will struggle to find a panel van that hasn’t been ply lined, unless you buy new.
