I used to own a mk1 GP swb many years ago.
Great fun, it was remarkably quick, well it felt it anyway.
it was a project car so I never actually heard it run before it was dropped off to me.
I got the engine running of sorts and decided to see what it could do down our quiet road. Floored it, wheels spinning, swerving all over the place etc ( I was impressed)
What i didn't realise until I got to the crossroads at the end of the street and hitting the brakes that actually they didn't exist!!......none at all, pedal to the floor.
Luckily for me nothing was coming either way. So a quick left and right on the steering wheel across the junction and a coast to a stop......lesson learnt that day. Don't be hasty or you might nearly soil yourself
