Bigger fuel tank giving false reading?

Hi my caravelle has had a bigger fuel tank fitted. I ran out of diesel last week AA man sorted it out but told me that when a bigger tank is fitted the sender unit is probably set up to the bigger tank thus giving a false reading. Does anybody know who can help in the South Yorkshire area please? Thanks Mark

Most likely require re-coding with VCDS to tell it what capacity tank it has.

Give @Dav-Tec a try, just off J29a M1 if its something that can be coded he'll see you right.

Ok thanks just need to find out the size of the tank

I'd think it's an 80 litre as I'm sure that was the only other option instead of the standard 70 litre.

More likely the sender is faulty. Not sure there is any coding to do. Have you fitted the bigger tank yourself?

Sounds like the sender unit is duff. But I can have a look no problem
