Battery not holding charge

Hi all I have a 2019 150 manual with start stop, and my battery is not holding charge. So I have been looking at replacements and found a Yuasa amg 7000 which looks like a direct swap without needing recoded? I have also seen the Yuasa amg 9000 which would probably suit me better with an upgraded 75-80 Ah as I run a BlackVue 900 2 channel dashcam. Does anyone have any experience with this. Eg recoding and size. Apologies if this has been discussed before. Tia Graeme.

Hi Graeme, hope you don’t mind me asking but did the new battery resolve your issue. Before getting the replacement battery what were you experiencing, and did you suspect the alternator at all. I’ve recently picked up a 2019 model (T6-T28 Highline) and I was told it’d been standing idle possibly for a year. Mileage on van 80k. Turn over at start can be slow but it does fire up. I suspect though that if I leave it for a period over a week I may struggle to start it. Seeing about 13.5 across battery whilst running.
Cheers, GrahamS

What’s the battery charge when the engine has been off overnight? That’ll give some indication of the state of health.
The alternator output needs to be measured with a load present, so main beam, heater, heated screen etc on, then measure at 1500rpm. It should then be around 14-14.5v

Hi, this morning the battery was showing about 12.3v van started easily. This afternoon the wife assisted in the testing. 12.6v across battery, 14.6v with engine running and load applied. On paper the battery would seem healthy enough but proof in pudding will be in 2 weeks when we return from holiday. I’ll run it around these next few days and see where we are at the future point. Thanks for responding

Hi, yes I had a few issues with the original battery that was in the vehicle. It was not a AGM battery. I decided to go through the AA to get a battery replaced as my vehicle refused to start at work. Luckily they sent out a Volkswagen recovery van which had AGM batteries with him. they recoded the vehicle after replacing the battery one thing I did notice after the battery was replaced that the DPF filter light came on and needed to do a region straight away since then the van has pulled a lot better and have my dash cam run in 24/7 and can leave it for a week and still starts no problem at all. Sorry for the late response
