The test for copper coated aluminium is a lighter flame - copper will glow and flame will be green, copper coated aluminium will just melt away

I discovered that my installer had (mistakenly - ahem) used copper coated aluminium cable on my van when the cable corroded to nothing at an external earth terminal. Despite 9 years in the RAF (back in the 80s) as a technician, I wasn’t aware of it until comments from others on this forum.
When I went back to the installer (a major converter) and asked for their re-assurance that the electrics in my van were safe to continue using, they apologised and offered to replace it all with proper stuff.
Not only is copper coated aluminium cable prone to corrosion, but it is also more prone to fatigue and subsequent breakage, both of which can result in heat build-up with possibly dire consequences.
