I have a cracking sound when I open my passenger side rear barn door on the hinge - any ideas what could be causing it and how to correct it?

The hinge seems to get so far then jump when it cracks.

thanks

Andy

Have you tried a good old bit of grease @Nand45 ? My barn doors made a hell of a grind and honestly thought they would snap off. A bit of grease helped... No end.... Glad to say did few months ago and didn't need to do again... For a while! Maybe a cheap fix?

That’s the mechanism that holds the door open. The amount of noise they make does vary - some grease may help.

Mine does the same, and has done since new - TADTS!

Nothing to worry about. That said a bit of lube on the mechanism won’t hurt. I use white grease on the front door check straps.

Is it a really loud single 'crack!' when you open the door? I cured mine by tightening up the spline bolts on the door side of the hinge.

Good luck. Not had it on the T6.1 but both my XC70 and the old SAAB 9000s had the same thing and the scary noises were always the tightness of the hold mechanism on the body.
