Ascot Grey - Wheel Dilemma! Help Please

Hi All,

Things are getting out of hand with the planned mods to our Ascot Grey Camper below.

Wanted to level the ride, coilovers (STX) and anti roll bars were decided on first. Then realised the lights are pants so have so LED bulbs to go in.

Its a T28 so the brakes are underwhelming so was going to upgrade to the larger T32’s...but have decided on Revo’s painted in Ascot grey with black Revo decals.

Tyres on it are budgets so decided if I am doing all the above it’s needs decent tyres, Goodyear F1’s decided on.

That brings me to this point, as I’m doing all the above I may as well change the Riveria 20’s as they are not my personal preference (came on the van).

My short-Ish list of options is follows, very keen to get any recommendations that I have not considered, on that I either want a grey or black wheel, no polished faces as my OCD can’t deal with them!

I'm with you on tyres, when a car pulls out in front of you it's tyres that'll make or break your day, the OE brakes might not be perfect but they'll do the job. Money spent on decent tyres is never money wasted. I laugh when I see people fit big brakes and match them up with the cheapest tyre they can find!

LED headlight bulbs are illegal and an MOT fail.

Yes but I don’t need an MOT for sometime and will take the risk as the vision upgrade is worth it from a safety standpoint.

As soon as the aftermarket LED headlights are released I’ll be fitting those.

I’m with you on the wheels, they look awful.
I’d go for a simple 7 spoke design, something like the Calibre Exile-R in matt black.

So you think they are illegal because they are an improvement in safety? Really? They are illegal because they are not designed to fit the reflectors and do not produce a correct beam pattern, dazzling other road users and therefore increasing risk of accident.

Thanks both, I had not considered that aspect to be honest, and they have been recommended to me by 2 very reputable traders.

it’s interesting as the adaptive LED lights on our Tiguan R Line (standard fit on 2017 MY) seem to annoy some other road users but they are of course very much legal.

I will do some more research!

anyway back to the thrust of the post, your opinions on wheel options!

From your choice above I like the SuperMetal Cell in Ultra Matt Grey.... think they would look great against your ascot grey van. And yes, Goodyear Eagle F1’s to wrap them with!

Personally I’d avoid the Cells, they’ll be a nightmare to clean.

Think the aftermarket LEDs will probably be LED drl only with H7s, for the T6 that's the case anyway.

Agree, luckily my OCD means I have plenty of detailing kit to (hopefully) be able to cope with them. A multitude of brushes and some Iron fall out remover should keep them ship shape!

Out of the wheels you posted, I like the super metal cells, however I haven’t had to clean them.

Mine failed the MOT having just had THQ lights fitted by 'our Chris'. And the small fact the rear fog lamp switch was bost. New switch, lights tweaked, it passed...
