Anyone know about VGA to HDMI

Calling all boffins.

I'm looking to connect my laptop to my TV. It's a standard Dell 15 pin VGA plug into HDMI however all the reviews I read suggest the leads don't work. Is there a trusted way of going it.

Help me fellow computer nerds. My eyesight depends on it.

VGA is an analogue signal, HDMI is digital. A lead alone won't do the job for you. You need to look at a convertor like this VGA to HDMI Converter with Audio Support | maplin

Also vga is purely a video lead but hdmi is audio and video hence the audio inputs of the converter linked above

Thank you. I'm trying to use the TV as a screen rather than a monitor to save desk space.

Brought one of these for a server i have behind the telly. Works fine. Powers from usb on telly as well.

I've done this in an emergency but you'll probably find the picture is horrible and immediately go online to look for a new monitor...

Picture is massivly better than with just vga. For general pc use would be ok but wouldnt want to do any gaming on there.
