Any specialist tools required for coilover fitting?

Looking at getting my new Stance Plus Streets fitted soon as I’m about to be placed on furlough leave! My question is - do I need any specialist tools to carry out the swap?

Spring compressors I know I need but do I need a ball joint remover?

Also, any advice would be appreciated.

Think you'll need hub spreader tool from memory then. Can improvise but the tool makes life easier.

Its for a T5 but I found this video useful as a guide although I've not done the job yet.

There is one for the rear shock too. I'm replacing the shocks as soon as they arrive here

21mm ring spanner / through socket for the strut top nut. I think a 7mm allan key too, to hold the piston rod.

Are you getting your head out the clouds Rich

Yeah, I’ve seen this. Looks like I need a hydraulic spring compressor, nice clean tool dolly and a four post lifter!

I’m going through a similar process - what sizes ball joint splitter do you need? The one I have from a [ahem] few years ago is too small.

I got away with out using a ball joint splitter although I replaced the Tie Rod ends as I had to cut one off. The other one came off with a bit of pressure underneath the arm with my trolley jack and some tapping on the side and bolt. Not the most elegant way but it worked!

I’ll try the jack method.

Ok. Next question- sorry for hijacking your thread @RichDavies82
Is there a special tool for removing the top but of the strut? It’s a 20mm and of course I don’t have a spanner that size!

Nope, it’s a 21. The ball joints will loosen with a few taps with a lump hammer and a jack. I bought a set of ball joint splitters from Machine Mart - £50!!!

Yes, I managed to get it out without splitting the bottom ball joint too:)

Now my top strut mounts are perished - need to source these?

Does anyone know what size the big hub but is in the centre, I'm going to have a go at fitting some Stance coilovers on my son's T28.
