Hi Folks,

Would anyone be able to confirm if all of the following will fit? Before I go disabling the van by stripping the buttons and wheel etc off the van and thus disabling it, My question is, do the flappy paddles just plug into my existing buttons or will I have to find new buttons with paddle connections? Any advise or comments welcomed.

The van is a 2016 Euro5 DSG Highline Base Van and I want flappy paddles and a flat bottom wheel. My current setup is a round wheel without flappy paddles.

I Then managed to get this one for a steal and my plan is to remove the black fascia, replace the buttons with the buttons from my wheel and then all should work because electronically, the buttons are as before. My question is, do the flappy paddles just plug into my existing buttons or will I have to find new buttons with paddle connections?

Hi - have done the same swap, the paddle shifters have a small loom with a white plug that will plug into your black surround and buttons - - remove the whole of the black trim c/w buttons off old wheel and fit directly onto the flat bottom wheel - suggest having a warm wheel/trim and take it easy with trim tools - be careful when pulling the black trims of each wheel - wiring is tight - especially for the paddle shifters.

Done the same swap too, found a flat bottom steering wheel on marketplace in mint condition for £40. As Nick said about just take your time and use trim tools.

Sorry to dig this one up @Virtualmeuk.
Did this go okay?m and did your existing buttons have the slot for the white plug for the paddles?

Many thanks
Chris

Hi Chris, yeah all went as expected. I used the paddles from the new polo wheel and they plugged into the old buttons from the t6 wheel. Only issue I had was separating the piano black trim from the rest of the wheel. I broke one of the clips but epoxy glued it back and it looks mint now.

Perfect. Thanks for getting back to me. I’m worried my buttons won’t have the DSG input, but I’ll prove: disprove this tomorrow morning when I have a little dismantle to check.

I’ve got the slots on the back of the paddles, and picked a wheel up today…so got this job lined up over the Xmas break. Cheers again!
