Alarm going off only at night, B pilar switch not illuminated [Resolved]

Hi all

A common question on the forum but possibly a bit different and havent found my exact problem else where

Our alarm has gone off 1 or 2 times each night for the last 3 nights whilst parked on the drive. No previous issues and has not activated in the day time. The switch on the B pillar does not illuminate red or yellow - We quickly started converting after purchase and the first thing was the pop top so unsure if this was working before then or not.(there used to be a motion sensor on the roof)

So far i have checked for bugs (holgind a light for 15 mins at 0200 today- no moths!!! and looking around the sensors above the driver console - no spiders. I have tried a double click of key fob and the alarm has still gone off. the 2nd time last night i used the bpillar button and it didnt go off for a third time but this was a small sample time for it to work/not work. I am not aware of any door lights flickering.

This morning i have sat in the van for about 10 mins (i think there may be a grace period) after locking the van and after pressing the button and locking the van, both times my movement set the alarm off.

Im going to continue with looking for little critters but does the alarm disable button not illuminating hint at a fault/fuse/soemthing that needs to be fixed?

Thanks
Ben

I believe it's drivers door open, press the button, shut the door then lock the van.

If you use the lock button on top of the drivers door card rather than the key fob then the alarm is not activated.

I didnt make it clear above and will edit - i am not in the van at the time it goes off, its parked on the drive so i can't use the internal lock button

You may not have seen any moths, but for good measure emptying a can of fly spray in there before locking up, normally fixes this.

Think I’ve found the culprit

And going to get an alarm specialist to come have a look at why the b pillar switch isn’t illuminated or working

In my Passat I only have to press the B pillar switch but in my T6 it takes 3 - 5 seconds of being pressed before before it illuminates/turns on.

If people are searching in the future. I rang an alarm specialist re the b pillar switch not lighting up at all and he said thats usually because theyve been unplugged which was the case with mine - 2 minute fix.
