Advice on purchase of VW Kombi T5.1

Buy yourself a Carista dongle and leave it plugged in permanently. I had the same issue as you a couple of weeks back and it was the ABS sensor as @phazer said. It’s a DIY job if you have the tools. Plenty of YouTube videos to help. I do not think they have tyre pressure sensors and TPMS is done via the wheel bearing and speed sensors. My sister Tiguan started with a type pressure fault and turned out to be a wheel bearing. Fingers crossed it is not that

😂🤣 Honestly I love it, I could happily go out and sit in it now, but the Mrs won’t be too impressed. It just opens slot of doors for me, just getting out door activity kit in it. Just brill. 👌

Yo

thanks for that, I’ll take up that advice, cheers👍

What you describe is minor, easily solved problems, I hope you enjoy your van, which I think was a bargain!

Thank you Dave, and for the help with the bed… hopefully get a few good years out of it. My daughter is already booking her weekends, to borrow it 😳 😢😂

They (AI) all make mistakes. Shocking thing is they also lie to cover it up. There are a lot of articles on this.

I’m excited for ‘new’ van day though!

I have a t5.1 (and think yours is a t6 but without all the adblue guff) so it looks like you’ve got a good ‘un there.
Mine is the 102hp and that’s plenty good enough power wise. They’re geared to carry weight and diesels like to be worked so for me the lower power engines sans adblue are great.

One thing to bear in mind is- when you do fit the bed you’ll need to inform your insurance.
Somebody in this forum recommended Howdens insurance they’ve been made aware intention to put a bed in and sold me a policy that covers this and future modifications at a reasonably competitive price ( not anywhere cheapest but seemed like a good policy)

Thanks Phil, purchased the dongle , which is pointing towards rear right ABS sensor so decent starting point at garage. (I’ve not really got the equipment or knowledge to take it on) 👌

Make a note of the codes and clear them , then see if they come straight back again .
Hi, so, I reset the warning signals and the ABS right wheel diagnosis alerts didn’t return.

And the ABS dash warning light is no longer illumined.

However two alerts on the diagnostic app did return, the first being,

1. Tire Pressure . (And the tire pressure warning light on the dash is still illuminated)

I have already checked tyre pressures and their fine.

And the other one stating.

2. Databus Implausible Message.

See screen shot below.

I can say when I went out for a test drive in the van last week , that the only warning light on the dash illuminated, was the tire pressure one, which I wasn’t too concerned about.

And again this is the only one illuminated now.

That said I’ve not driven it since the reset.

Thanks

Hey, I mentioned in an earlier post that my sisters Tiguan had a similar fault and it turned out to be a wheel bearing. I would try the cheaper option first and have the ABS sensor changed.

The connection for the wiring is under the passenger seat so you could check there too.

Pure grey vw call it , looks like gloss primer grey ...good colour
84bhp and 102bhp can be mapped to make them easier to live with (give them more mid range grunt so less gear changing) .
Like with all modern diesels they don't like pootling around town and a good blast does them good .
Beautiful colour 🤩

Phil,

Just to let you know the rear right wheel ABS sensor was changed. Parts and labour £60.

I’ve since done 450 miles and no sign of any warning lights coming on.

Thanks 👍

Great news mate, not a bad price either.

Enjoy.
