Vehicle Battery Recommendations

Afternoon ladies and gents

I think after 9.5 years, the vehicle agm battery on my 150 manual kombi is on it's way out! I'm very disappointed that it has only lasted since 2016 but ya can't have everything........nowt's made to last now but I'll get over it!! Anyhow, has anyone got any recommendations and where is a good place to purchase? I did wonder about seeing if it can be helped along by buying something like a ctek charger/conditioner and a bit of de-ionised water.........there seem to be lots of youtube videos showing agm batteries being "breathed on" by this method.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

my last battery came from here but they are local to me and have a sales counter. They were competitive with Tayna on price.

I have the same generation starter battery - a 2016 vintage 75 Ah AGM. It’s usually very well topped up through a trickle charger attached to the solar panel. However, it sat on the drive during January and the weather has been so shocking it wasn’t getting its usual trickle charge and sadly it got down to 9.5V before I noticed. I assumed it was probably dead given that and the age but I stuck it on charge anyway to see and was staggered to find that it took in a full 64Ah of charge! Moral of the story is those batteries can last an awfully long time with decent treatment so it probably is worth seeing if it can be revived…

Thread 'Upgrading Starter Battery - how to guide'

My van (April 2017 T28) is fitted with a Moll battery.
I am experiencing some issues with it not starting after a few days sitting on the drive. Now this could be due to the tracker I have fitted draining it but I doubt it, I'll do some drain current tests before taking the plunge.
If I were to change the battery myself, could I replace it with a larger capacity one (eg a 95Ah 850A G14 Varta AGM which should just fit in the battery tray) instead of the standard 70Ah 700A Moll?
Is there anything I need to do to let the van know it has a different battery fitted? (I have VCDS if needed)
